Summer Reading and YOU

Summer Reading at Whitman County Rural Library District is just around the corner, and we have some exciting details to share with you! This year’s theme, Adventure Begins at Your Library, has inspired us to map out plenty of all-ages fun. Learn more below:

READING PUNCH CARDS
A new feature at WCL, this year’s punch cards are your ticket to Summer Reading fun. Available starting on Monday, June 3 (and due back by August 16) they’ll help track and inspire reading for kids, teens, and adults throughout the summer. Each completer will receive a prize once their card is submitted and will also be entered into our county-wide prize drawing!

COMMUNITY LEGO BUILDS
Readers at all 14 library locations will be contributing to LEGO builds this summer, every time they earn a punch on their card! It’s simple really: one punch equals one LEGO. In fact, patrons who complete their whole Summer Reading punch card can even get a *bonus* card to keep earning pieces. So… the more you read, the more you build!

COUNTY-WIDE PRIZES
Thanks to the Friends of Whitman County Library, we’re offering an amazing assortment of prize packs this year! Patrons who return their completed punch cards by Friday, August 16 will be entered for a chance to win the following prizes in the following categories:

ALL-AGES PROGRAMMING
For many people, summertime can mean many things: sunshine and swim lessons, long workdays and hot houses, picnics and playdates. At our libraries across the county, all of these things are true. In fact, these are the reasons that we strive to provide free programming for all-ages in our communities! To increase literacy and inspire a love of reading? Always. To get people together and build connections? Of course. To provide safe, air-conditioned oases? You better believe it!

More details about our Summer Reading festivities will continue to emerge. Please consider visiting our Summer Reading webpage here, signing up for our email newsletter here, or checking our events calendar here for more information.
