Food For Fines 2022, Thank You!
The Whitman County Library staff is proud to announce the success of collecting over $3,100 worth of non-perishable food, household items, and several generous cash donations in the twenty-fourth annual Food for Fines drive.
Donations came in throughout Whitman County with only 5% attached to waiving of library fines. The library staff would like to applaud the 72 participants for helping those in need in this wonderful way.
In Colfax, the library received generous monetary donations to the total of $2,515 all benefitting the Colfax Food Pantry. Both Paige Collins, Executive Director at Council on Aging & Human Resources, and library staff member, Catalina Flores were taken away by this kindhearted donation.
Food for Fines is held each February when area pantries report more people struggling with high heat bills and difficulty feeding their hungry families. The generosity of library patrons is especially needed when donations are often low.
