Children’s Author Kay M. Bates Visits June 11
The community is invited to meet local author Kay M. Bates as she shares her book series, “The Adventures of Rug Bug” on Saturday, June 11 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in the Center (adjacent to the Colfax Library). Books will be available for purchase with a portion of all sales benefiting the library.
This adventure series is best suited for kids in 2nd through 4th grade. It tells the story of a nomadic beetle who crash-lands outside of Mousetopia. Invited to reside in the city with a mouse family, Rug quickly makes friends but they soon find themselves in a courageous fight for freedom. One reader describes the first book as, “a lovingly penned book about friendship, morality, and standing up for what you believe in.”
Her other books, “Gordon Pumpkin Smith the Second” (Audience: 1st-3rd grade) and “B is for Baylee” (Audience: 4th-6th grade) will also be available at this event.
Bates and her husband reside on the Palouse. A scientist by day and a writer by night, Bates enjoys music, rollerblading, and tasty food.
