“Awaiting Coverage: Healthcare in the USA” now showing at Libey Gallery

Rothwell’s watercolor painting titled, “March of 40 Million Uninsured”

An exhibit called “Awaiting Coverage: Healthcare in the USA” by Nancy Rothwell is now showing at the Libey Gallery at Colfax Library. The works of acrylic and watercolor are featured in the gallery through the end of October.

Rothwell, who has a background in healthcare, has been well known for her social and political artistic statements related to healthcare policies in the US. While this is an unusual topic to include in fine art, she hopes to encourage curiosity about US healthcare policy and improving affordability and access. For example, some of her paintings show her deep interest in access to medications and the fact that so many US citizens go to Canada to obtain their medications at a major cost savings.

Rothwell, a Colfax artist explains, “I paint what I think about and I’ve been thinking about national healthcare policy a lot.”

Libey Gallery at Colfax Library is located at 102 S. Main Street. Hours are Mondays – Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursdays – Fridays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays – Sundays 1 to 5 p.m. or by phone at 509-397-4366.
