Albion Branch Library to be renovated thanks to METER grant funding

Whitman County Library was recently awarded a $10,000 grant to renovate the Albion Branch Library. Provided by the METER Foundation of Pullman, the funds will provide for a new heating and air conditioning unit along with upgrades to the carpeting, paint and furniture.

Renovations are expected to begin immediately, taking advantage of the library’s closed status due to Coronavirus. Albion residents needing curbside, mailing services or Summer Reading information are encouraged to call 509-397-4366. Wi-Fi service and bookdrop access remain available outside the building.

The METER Foundation’s mission is to fight the effects of poverty, promote education, and improve the quality of life for communities. In 2020, the Foundation supported local non-profits with $120,000 in funding along with volunteer labor and technical support. In Albion, METER Foundation volunteers will be on site to help with the moving of books, painting and other tasks.

For more information about this project, contact Catalina Flores at the library or visit the Meter Foundation website at www.meterfoundation.org.
